My hands were on the rope I'd tied around her wrists, and I forced her in front of me as we walked through the National Park. Ruby, that was her name. I'd gotten it out of her before I'd temporarily knocked her out. A wicked smirk crosses my face- she was my latest project. My latest case of doling out justice to the sinners. We were moving steadily towards the house I had. It was a normal house, set right in the middle of the forest. No Vampires came here- they knew my reputation and just left me to my own devices. Soon the wild ground under out feet turned into a well trod path, my brick cabin rising up before us defiantly against the trees. I walk Ruby up the porch steps, the wood creaking under our feet before I opened the door and pushed her through it. I had no electricity, but I didnt really need it- nothing in the dark scared me. I moved over towards the basement door- yes, I had a basement- and opened the door, the dark appearing to seep through into the sun lit living room.

On what had seemingly been the best day of her life, getting kidnapped by an insane man was last on her list of things to do. Of course she'd fought, mainly with spiteful words. But in the end it didn't matter because he had knocked her out anyway. Ruby kept quiet and mostly behaved, though she would spit a comment back to him every now and then. It was hard to keep ahead of him when he was walking so fast to her naturally slow pace, but to avoid being knocked out and get another killer headache, she walked faster than her legs went. Her eyes widened when they neared the brick cabin and she started to resist, pulling with her wrist; it did her no good, just scratched them up and made them burn terribly. She was almost in tears as she was pushed through the door and another was opened, dark and looking very small. I don't know what you want me for, but if it's ransom I have money. I can give it to you today, right now in fact if you let me go. The bank down the street, matter of fact. If your just going to kill me, just do it now, now would be best. Ruby was frantically stumbling over her words, too scared to be defiant anymore. Now she wanted to sob and cry and thrash around to try and get free. As she opened her mouth for another plea, something struck her. If she were to get free, she would need to know his name for the cops. Wait, what's your name again? She asked as if he'd told her already, hoping that he was to distracted to notice her false note.

I roll my intense blue eyes, shaking my head once. "I dont need money. I need to dole out justice, no one else is. The world is full of sinners, liars, and devil spawn. It needs more people like me." I insist, my eyes wide with a crazed light in them. Kill her now? No, that wouldnt be fitting for her crimes. No, no, that would not work! My name. I hadnt given her my name, she didnt need it. "I am your nightmare, I am the shape in the dark, I am your ending- ashes to ashes, dust to dust." I reply, shoving her forward into my basement. I keep my hand around the rope on her wrist and follow Ruby down, lighting a small candle that sat on the wall with my Zippo. The walls were cement, water oozing down them in slimey rivulets. The light from the candle was wavering, flicking side to side as if decisive about where to illuminate. It showed the animal sage I had, two iron rings welded to the bottom. Coils of chains lay around them, and I smile once more, making a saitisfied noise to myself. This was all going according to plan, nothing could possible mess it up. I move forward, taking Ruby with me as I dig a key out of the pocket of my dark red suit. I unlock it and the door swings open with an eerie, ominous creak.

Ruby narrowed his eyes at the answer to her question. What the hell was wrong with this guy? She strongly resisted the urge to turn around and confront him, instead she shut her mouth and drug her feet as he pushed her down the steps. His basement was exactly like what every creeper needed. Wet, moldy, dark and full of cages. Cages. Ruby's eyes widened at the site of a cage, and further so when he proceeded to unlock the gate. No, no, no, no, no. No! Please, don't- don't put me in there. She had gone as far to actually push back against the man holding her, struggling with all the might in her small body. He may put her in a cage, but it would only be done so with a hell of a fight. Ruby flung herself back, slamming whatever body part of hers could move into him. It was mainly her feet and elbows, though she fought hard with them. What freaked her out most, sadly, was the fact that the cage was small. Not the fact that a man was probably going to kill her, not the fact that he was, quiet considerably insane and not even the fact that she was making an utter fool of herself. Ruby had dumbed down to sobbing, and not the soft kind. Deep, raking sobs raged against her ribs and she had to fight to keep her breath.

I ignore her pleas- I'd heard them all before. Occasionally I'd even get some death threats. Bah, as if they would ever get free. And if they did, it wasnt like they could single-handedly take down a Vampire in his prime. What I wasnt prepared for was when Ruby pushed herself against me. I push her forward, locking my arms so that she's held out away from me, her elbows connecting with nothing but air. I take one of the manacles and close it around her wrist, the lock engaging with a crisp click. I take the other and do the same before shoving her in front of me into the cage. I take her face in my hands, my intense blue eyes looking into her odd brown ones. "Confess your sins to me and your punishment will not be harsh. I believe you are the single most decent person I've met, besides myself. Confess and you will be saved." I rant, a crazed expression on my face. I suddenly lean down to kiss her. Ruby really didnt have too many crimes under her name, I could tell that much. She seemed so.. innocent and pure.

Ruby wasn't happy about not connecting with his flesh, so she gave up. Instead she was about to make more plea's, but once the manacles came around her wrist, she had a mini melt down. Only on the inside, of course. She attempted to remain calm on the outside and not give who ever this creep was the satisfaction of her fright. When he took her face in his hands, her first thought was the germ factor. Who knew where his hands had been? The though vanished when he told her to 'confess her sins'. Well, she had lied about making an F once and fifth grade, punched a girl for laughing at her, and done normal moody teenager things. She was about to say that she'd run over her mean dog once, but before she could even organize the words his lips were on hers. At first she was shocked, then Ruby quickly pulled away and jerked her knee up, hitting home. That's my sin. She growled, cheeks still flushed.

She doesnt kiss me back and her knee crashes into the family jewels, sending me backwards and onto my butt. A pained grunt escapes my lips and I roll over onto my side, my hands on my crotch. I take a series of deep breaths before sitting up, flipping my slightly long ginger hair out of my eyes. "You'll come around." I mutter to myself, getting to my feat with feline grace. My foot slams the door of the cage closed with a loud clang and I bend over to lock it. A meow distracts me from what Im about to say to Ruby and I glare at the tabby that purrs against my legs. "Go away, Caterina." I snap, kicking at her. She races away to the bottom of the stairs before licking daintily at a paw and wiping it over her ear. "Damn cats." I mutter, shaking my head. I hated cats, why did I even keep her? Probably because she was the only real company I had, besides the sinners- but they didnt make very good conversation, no. I turn my back to the now occupied cage and stride over to the cat, picking her up in my arms before licking my index finger and thumb to reach out and put out the candle.

Ruby found herself smiling at his pain but she stopped. His creepiness was rubbing off on her. Like hell I will. She thought, running the chains of the manacles against the concrete floor. The sound of a cat caught her attention and she looked up. A tabby, apperantly Caterina, was flowing around his legs. Ruby rather liked cats, it was the only animal she liked. She was distracted with the thoughts that she didn't even notice the ginger leaving until the lights suddenly went dull. No, wait! She tried to leap to her feet, but her head hit the top of the cage and she hissed, dropping back to her knee's. The manacles didn't allow her to move more than about two inches in any direction. Ruby was suddenly feeling more and more cramped. Taking a few deep breaths, she tried to calm herself but found it only made her more freaking out. She let out a guttural sound and pulled at the chains causing her wrist to burn and bleed.

I pause at the bottom of the stairs as she calls out. "I'll be back." I promise, nodding comfortingly even though Ruby probably couldnt see me. I start up the steps and soon re enter the bright living room. I shut the basement door behind me, shutting any hint of light that would filter down. I set Caterina down and wander into the kitchen, pulling out a plate and some bread. I prod at it with my finger. It might've been a tad stale, but nothing inedible. I hum to myself as I pull out the peanut butter and set about making a sandwich. I didnt have any jelly- it didnt keep too well. I flip my finger hair out of my face and look down at the sandwich. I wouldnt eat it myself, I'd give it to Ruby. I didnt need food- I needed blood. And I hadnt gotten any in a while. I huff before taking the sandwich off the plate and going back to the basement door. "Hungry?" I call down, leaning casually agains the door frame.

Ruby had lost any hope when all light shut off from the room. She didn't cry, didn't rant and bang against the cage. Rather she only sat there and breathed. It was the only action she proved helpful in this situation anyway. Her eyes swelled with tears only once and it was only when a sharp shard of metal from the manacles had pokes in her wrist. Right as light shown through the cage bars, Ruby was fit to be dead. She raised her head, hair shrouded about in tangles. No. I wouldn't take food from you anyway. She spat, turning her back to him best as she could. The dark green shirt she wore probably showed her spine. But that's what you got when you had been anorexic several times. Ruby folded her legs under her to where she was balanced on her shins.

I sigh and start down the stairs, nothing bothering to light the cnalde- I could see well enough anyway. I squat down in front of the cage, my elbows on my knees and the sandwich in one hand. My clear blue eyes travel down the bumps of her spine that stick out against ehr dark green shirt and I flip my hair out of my eyes. "Dont be that way." I coo, shaking my head even though Ruby was turned away from me. "It is just a peanut butter sandwich- no poison or anything, I dont kill sinners like that." I add, my tone thoughtful. No, poison would be too.. stealthy a way for them to die. I wanted them to know who killed them, I wanted my face to be the last they saw. They needed to know why they were going to die, and that they could never right their wrongs except by one way- dying.

Ruby almost puked at his tone, but she was starving. Halfway turning, she fought against her stomach but found it overwhelmed her. She faced the ginger and narrowed eyes. I'll be whatever way I want to be. But.. I'm hungry. It wasn't her goal to cave, but at the moment she didn't care. While distracted with her food fantasy's, Ruby hardly noticed that Caterina had come down. The feline was close enough for Ruby to read. Landru was the gingers name, then. Now if she ever got free there was one piece of evidence against this man who'd kidnapped her. Ruby watched as the cat edged ever so closely to Landru and she wished that the cat could be kept with her, for company in the dark room.

I watch as she turns 160 degrees around, her brown eyes narrowing at me- still suspicious. "Here." I say, holding out my hand with the sandwhich. I look over at Caterina as she waltzes over and grimace at her. "Go away, you damn animal." I snap, attempting to shoo her away with my hand though all it does is send her to my other side. She sets her front paws on my leg, kneading her claws into the cloth of my pants. I roll my eyes as the tabby rubs her head against my stomach before turning my blue gaze back on Ruby. "I think I have about.. three more sandwiches left." I say thoughtfully, gnawing on my lower lip as I looked up at the ceiling.

Ruby cooed at the cat, but it stuck to Landru's side. Maybe it meant the cat was just as horrible as it's owner. She took the sandwhich and sat it beside her. There wasn't any way she was going to eat in front of Landru. Instead she attempted to ling her hands together, but the manacles were just short of allowing her to do so. She sighed and put her hands back at her side. Can I at least get out of the cage? I'll do anything, and I promise not to try and leave. Ruby's voice cracked at the end and she had begun to sound desperate. She'd just promised to stay with an insane guy. And who knew how long he'd keep her if he didn't plan on killing her. The image of living her whole life at the house flashed before her eyes and she wanted to cry. What about her own two cats, Dill and Scout?

She takes the sandwich from me but sets it beside her and I hold back a comment about how very dirty the floor of the cage was, but decide against it. I raise my eyebrows thoughtfully before shaking my head. "Anything sounds fairly tempting, dear Ruby, but, however, I fear you will attempt to escape. If you escape I will have to hunt you down all over again, but this time kill you on sight- and that would be a shame." I explain, my voice light and airy. I absentmindedly rub Caterina's head and a loud purr rumbles from her throat. "And, I do not wish to be kicked once more." I add, a slight edge of humor in my voice. "So, in short, no." I finish, taking the tabby into my arms and holding her up to touch her nose to mine.
