Ruby rolled her eyes, but didn't protest until he mentioned being kicked. You kissed me. She replied pointedly, rolling her shoulders to relieve the tension there. His answer wasn't shocking, though it still disappointed her. When I promise something, like promising to never leave, I would never break that promise. Ruby decided these would be the last words he heard from her if Landru really did make her stay in the cage. She pulled her knees to her chest and put her forehead on them, making her last thing to look at be the sandwich. Why not give up if you were bound to be killed? Why try again if you'd been told no? Ruby swallowed a lump in her throat. That was definitely something she wasn't going to do. Weakness would only fuel him more. Or that's what her self defense teacher had told her.

I cock my head to the side thoughtfully before nodding. "Yes, I did. Couldnt quite help myself." I reply, completely unfazed and unashamed. "You see, I really do believe you are fairly decent, not like most sinners, though you do have your own share of crimes." I continue, setting Caterina down in my lap as I stroked her tabby pelt thoughtfully. "Promises? Ah, sinners always have many broken promises. Though, since you're different, I suppose you might not." I state, my voice doubtful and slightly confused. I loook down at my cat as if she would hold all the answers, but her amber eyes just blink back at my blue ones. I sigh softly before standing, dumping the tabby back onto the floor before digging my keys out of my pocket. "You can come out of the cage, though you'll be strictly in the bedroom." I say, my voice determined as I unlocked the door. Her manacles were still on, and then the ropes still bound her wrists, though there wasnt much Ruby could do.

Ruby looked up, shock and slight terror shown on her face. He was letting her out, even if only to whatever bedroom it was. No more dark cage to make her feel like a trapped animal. Maybe she'd even be pleasant company not having concrete wedged up her ass. Thank you. She was so caught up in leaving the cage general manners hadn't even entered her mind. Though she really shouldn't have to be polite to the man who'd kidnapped her. Being able to stand would feel good, as would light to her eyes. Ruby put her legs out in front of her. They were asleep, dead practically. Her mind wandered farther back the first thing Landru had said. She'd been to excited at first to notice it. But he'd said he 'couldn't quite help himself.' If he couldn't stop himself from kissing her, what else couldn't he stop himself from. Ruby mentally shook herself. There was no need in patronizing herself farther. But it still danced in her head.

I bend over to also unlock the manacles that are locked around her wrists, each one dropping to the floor of the cage with the loud rustling of the chains. I wrap my hand around the rope the bound her hands and pull her out of the cage, turning towards the stairs. "Caterina." I snap, kicking out at her as she almost tripped me. I straighten myself and guise Ruby towards the stairs, ascending them. Soon we're standing in the sun lit living room once more. It was sparsely furnished, just a couch, table, and overflowing bookshelves. "Come along.. not that you have much choice." I say, a light chuckle emanating from me as I start down the hallway with her held in front of me. I pass the first room and open the second one, letting Ruby inside. It wasnt anything special, with just a bare bed set in the corner- there wasnt even a window. I'd had the house special made, and I could be as eccentric as I liked. "Now, I shall make you another sandwich, dont leave this room." I say, waggling a finger at her as if she were a silly child. I msot certainly didnt wat her in my room, no.

Ruby was ecstatic walking up the stairs and into the living room light. A huge smile light her face, though she hid it when she was facing Landru again. He couldn't know that she was, indeed, happy in already giving up hope. Okay. If I'm going to be alive- Ruby stopped suddenly. Once again she'd gotten ahead of herself. She visioned sealing her lips with a zipper and tossing the key away. Nothing about her previous worries were to be expressed out loud. She lay on her back, staring up at the ceiling while working her wrist back and forth in the rope. The other sandwich was still laying in the cage. Maybe the cat would get it. Upon this though, Caterina appeared in the room and hopped on the bed, looked at Ruby, then jumped down with a sickening meow. Ruby may like all cats, but all cats did not like her.

Im already halfway down the hall when her words reach my ears. I decide not to reply, no normal human would have been able to hear them and I didnt want to give Ruby a hint that I was a Vampire, no. The bread, and peanut butter are still sitting out on the counter and I take the knife from the sink, wiping it down with a napkin- none the worse for wear. I lean against the counter as I spread the peanut butter on the bread, the smell making my wrinkle my nose. I hated human food. I mean, I could eat it but I prefered not to. I flip my long hair out of my eyes and check in a cup board- a single water bottle, un opened. I shrug slightly and reach up for it, thinking Ruby would need something to wash the sandwich down with. And water never went bad, did it?

Ruby got bored quickly and got off the bed and started to roam. Sure, she wasn't supposed to but it's not like she promised to to leave a room. No, she promised only not to leave the house. As she stopped by a closed door, the air almost felt cooler. She pushed it open and regretted it. Rows and rows of weapons lined the walls, things that no normal person would have in their room were placed at intervals. Ruby stepped forward and her eyes spotted a lone picture. She picked it up and turned her head to the side. A blonde girl smiled back at her, as well as Caterina. Who was this? Ruby turned the frame in her hands but saw no name. This was presumably Landru's room. Maybe it was a relative?

I soon finish the sandwich and decide to leave it on the plate this time and tuck the water bottle under my arm before starting back down the hall. I freeze as I notice my door standing open, the plate clattering to the floor and the water bottle rolling down the hallway. With supernatural speed Im in my room, taking the picture from Ruby's hands. I dont look down at it but instead calmly place it on the nightstand, Caterina jumping up on my bed to sniff at it. The picture was old, faded black and white. It just had the blonde and Caterina, but they took up the whole frame splendidly. "Get the hell out." I say, my voice deadly cold and barely above a growl. "And never come back in here." I add, shaking my head once, my intense blue gaze never wavering from her brown one.

Ruby backed away from the nightstand quickly, but didn't leave the room. She tugged the beanie farther down on her blonde tresses and put her fist on her hips. Tell me who she is first. Another victim? Maybe the one you had most joy of killing? What kind of sick game are you playing?! Ruby had gone hysterical, tears flowing down her hot cheeks. Before she could stop herself, her hand flew behind her into Landru's door, slamming it shut. Her intention was to rather knock it open and escape, but turning to open it now would only make her vulnerable. At least facing him she could have some sort of a fight. She was sure that he wanted to kill her now, positive, actually. She'd trespassed, yelled at him and made a dent in his door. The yelling alone was enough for her to want to strangle her brother.

I glance over at the picture, the Caterina sitting primly on the bed. I swallow the lump that had suddenly formed in my throat and look down at my feet. "Donna, a victim but not mine." I say, shaking my head once. "I would never hurt her, never." I spit, my voice hard as I look back up at Ruby. "Its a long story, actually." I add after a sigh, looking back over at the tabby. "It was 1958, he attacked us.. drained her then went after me, but he turned me instead of.. of killing me. We were engaged you know.. you remind me much of her, for some odd reason." I ramble, not realizing there were tears flowing down my face. "Caterina was the only thing I had left of Donna, I had to turn her." I say, reaching out a hand to the cat. "Squirrel blood, sinner blood." I say distantly, my blue eyes roaming over the many firearms fondly.

Ruby almost felt bad for him. Then the date came up. 1958. Every story she'd ever heard about vampires rushed at her and she stumbled backwards, slamming her spine into the corner of something. It hurt. Her eyes narrowed and unnarrowed twice. Was he a vampire? But no, it couldn't be. They were children tales, that's all. Nothing that could possibly exist. Landru's tears were of no condolence to her. Even if he'd lost his beloved Donna, it was no excuse to pack up and kill others. None at all. So you lock people in cages and kill them because of this. Did it ever occur to you that this act is a sin? Ruby was rubbing her lower back and looking at Landru from the corner of her eyes. She was turned towards the door hoping to make an escape.

She stumbles back, slamming into the corenr of my heavy oak desk. I wipe at my face angrily, ashamed to have the tears flow from me as if I were a broken water hose. I cough out a bitter alugh and shake my head, raising my intense gaze back up to Ruby. "No. I do it to get revenge for Donna. Sinners deserve to die, Im just the only one that will carry out the justice." I say, my voice becoming cold once more. "Dont think about running. I will catch you, and kill you. No more nice cages." I say, shaking my head as she inched towards the door. "Actually, I wouldnt even have to chase you. Do you not notice the many lovely weapons of death around us?" I ask, gesturing to them as if Ruby wouldnt have noticed without me pointing them out. "Caterina and I will make a feast of you." I add in a happy tone, smiling at her pleasantly, my ivory fangs showing.

Ruby stopped at his cold words. True, weapons were everywhere. But, to be killed by one of them running or to be made a fool of and killed against her own will was the question to ask. She had never been one to back down from a fight easily. Then again, normal fights didn't consist of being kidnapped either. As she pivoted her body back towards him, all ready to give in and do what he asked, her eyes caught glinting fangs. Yes, fangs. Ruby let out a breathless squeak and spun around, throwing open the door. Dieing from running seemed so much better. She had almost made it out of the door when her foot hit the wooden desk. Falling was in slow motion for the actually faller, and it wasn't a bit fun. Her wrist were to fragile to catch her whole body weight, so she crashed to the floor on her shoulder and rolled over, looking back at Landru while scooting back on her butt. Running wasn't much of an option. She was positive her toe was broken and getting up would take to long. It was a pathetic death to look up at the gun, not level to it.

She lets out a frightened squeak, her back to me as she flings the door open. I start to reach for her- it would only take a second to snap her neck- but her foot catches the foot of the desk and Ruby falls forward. She looks up at me, her odd brown eyes filled with fear as she hurridly scoots backwards. I squat down in front of her, my face inches from hers. "You get one more chance, dear." I start, a smile crossing my face. "Stay in your room and be good, or right back in the cage for you." I finish, standing and taking her by the arm, pulling Ruby to her feet roughly. I pull her out of my room, slamming the door after us, and practically toss her into her room, the unopened water bottle following her. "No more chances after this." I state, my intense gaze leveled on her.

Ruby made the choice as soon as his face was level with hers. There would never be a moment of her voice reaching his ears again. A vampire. He was a vampire. Vampire's actually existed. She shuddered of the thought and attempted to jerk her arm from his cold grasp. No luck. Her eyes clamped shut when the room was surrounding her again, his voice reliving her last chance. Sure, it may be her last chance, but it didn't mean she wouldn't make herself hell to deal with. Ruby walked to the bed and looked at it before calmly turning around and sitting against the wall, making herself comfortable. This is where she would stay. This is where she would say quiet, unmoving, unresponsive until he either killed her or let her go. But Ruby knew it would be hard because she naturally liked to talk and argue. It wasn't certain an outburst of some kind would come. How in the hell did I end up in this..She whispered to herself, ramming her head into the wall behind her. For a moment everything started to swirl. If she had hit a little harder she would have knocked herself out. Good to know for the future.
